Katerina has thirty‑seven years’ experience in secondary education – for many years she was the principal of the 10th Primary School (Blagoevgrad) and of the Secondary School with Intensive Foreign Language Study “St. Kliment Ohridski” in Blagoevgrad. From an early age Katerina has been connected to mathematics – her father was a mathematics teacher. She studied in mathematics tracks with ICT and attended the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Sofia University. Since 1978 she has taught mathematics at the Mechanical Technical School in Blagoevgrad and then mathematics and informatics at other local schools. She also served for twelve years as an SAT mathematics instructor at the English Language Institute of the American University in Blagoevgrad and for more than fifteen years (including now) she has been a part‑time assistant at the Southwest University “Neofit Rilski,” where she teaches Methodology of Mathematics Education, School Mathematics Course, and observation of informatics and ICT.

Her view on education: Katerina believes that Bulgaria needs broadly accessible IT tools for modern education. Khan Academy is easy to use and free. It allows for accuracy and speed in communication between student, teacher and parent, based on a real‑time assessment. Using the progress of each individual student, the learning process can be individualized, making it interactive and therefore different and more interesting for students.
